I had already been through one attorney and lost my first Social Security disability case. My husband kept telling me not to worry, and just give up. He said that he would support me and that it was not a big deal. But I knew it was a big deal because I knew exactly what I deal with day in and day out. I prayed that morning, saying God if I'm supposed to continue, will you please show me someone you recommend? An hour later my mom called and showed me the “John L. Harlan and Associates” ad in the newspaper. I thought - what could it hurt, let's try. But when I first met John it was pretty rough for me, but I knew God put him in my path. I just kept telling myself be honest and breathe. Then I will never forget something John told me: “I know it's hard to share the truth when you've been through so much, you have to share the good, the bad, and the ugly.” As months went by I got a little more comfortable with John. I started sharing more deep and hard things that I deal with on a daily basis. John definitely has a big heart and he will fight for you! I am truly thankful God put him in my path. Finally, the hearing came and I was prepared. I won my case. My husband and I are so thankful that I did not give up and found an attorney who would be frank with me and help me win my case.

I am writing this to show my great appreciation for John Harlan and the legal assistance he and his team provided with regards to SSDI Benefits. I became disabled in January of 2023 and filed for benefits in September 2023 through a law office that was contracted with my short/long-term disability insurance firm through my job. As anyone who has ever applied knows, this process is ridiculously long and I was denied on my initial application and again when I appealed.
I contacted John Harlan after the appeal denial, on the recommendation of another local attorney, and he went right to work. He submitted more than 100 pieces of evidence in my case! We certainly had setbacks in my case, and it was an extremely rough go of it, mostly because of a difficult judge. John never once gave up. He stayed on top of all my appointments, medical records, and argued my case with skill that I believe could only come from his years of experience.
I became eligible for benefits in July 2023. On August 18, 2026 John argued my case with the presence of the judge and the medical expert. August 27, 2026 we received a fully favorable decision! I will now receive my monthly benefit as well as back pay to July 2023! Words can't express the relief I felt when John called me with that news. I have no doubt that I would still be fighting them if I hadn't had Mr. Harlan fighting for me. The system is horrible. The process is long and difficult. For anyone who is looking for a true professional to fight for you and get you the benefits that you have worked and paid all of your life for, I highly recommend John and the Harlan Law Office. He once told me that he was fully prepared to take my case to the Supreme Court, and I never once doubted that. So, in closing, I will just say thank you Mr. Harlan so very much for all your hard work and expertise. I certainly couldn't have done it without you, and I honestly don't know what I would have done. Thank you. Thank you.
